The first flush arrives with the early rain. It is delicate, grassy, almost shy in the cup — and the world’s wholesalers will pay any price for it. Aburaj does not.
We wait.
What the second flush gives you
By June the leaves have body. The muscatel comes through. The cup turns from pale lemon to amber. This is the tea our customers in Sirohi recognise — the tea their grandparents drank before the tourists arrived.
How we choose a lot
Three growers send sample tins. The master blender brews each at 95°C, four minutes, no milk. We pick by liquor first, leaf second. The leaf has to be honest about what it is: long, twisted, no dust.
This is the philosophy behind Aburaj Darjeeling Gold — both BP and OF grades. Same garden, same picking. Different cuts for different cups.
